Shortly after 3 p.m., Mar. 22, Los Angeles County firefighters landed a helicopter on an island in the riverbed near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Whites Canyon Road.

The crew worked for about 10 minutes to rescue the man and load him onto the helicopter.

The helicopter then landed in a parking lot and firefighters offloaded the man to an ambulance.

Los Angeles County firefighter Taylor Wilson interviewed by Key News Network at the scene, said the depth of water in the riverbed can be deceiving as well as how fast it’s moving. He urged people to stay out of the riverbed if you don’t know how deep it is, and as far as driving through it, avoid it at all costs.
