Pedestrian Fatally Struck at Scene of Multi-Vehicle Traffic Collision

Pacoima, Los Angeles, CA: A pedestrian was struck and killed on a Los Angeles Freeway while trying to get the attention of motorists early Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to reports of a traffic collision on the northbound I-5 Freeway at the eastbound 118 interchange just after midnight, Apr. 25.

When the fire department arrived at the location, they found a three-vehicle traffic collision with one vehicle over the embankment into the park below the freeway.

One vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian who was waving his hands trying to get the attention of oncoming drivers, according to witnesses.

It was unclear if the pedestrian was the occupant of the rolled over vehicle. No one was reportedly transported for injuries.

CHP is handling the investigation. The transition road was closed for an unknown duration.
