Pedestrian Fatally Struck, Dragged in Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision in Los Angeles

VERMONT SQUARE, LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17 (KNN) — A vehicle struck a pedestrian early Sunday morning and then proceeded to drag the fatally injured victim down the street before fleeing the scene.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a “person down” call shortly after 2 a.m. on Western Avenue just north of Vernon Avenue in the Vermont Square neighborhood within South Los Angeles.

The LAFD located the patient and transported them to a local hospital.

The Los Angeles Police Department was later notified by LAFD that the patient was struck by a vehicle, dragged down the street and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

A crime scene was established where the LAFD found the patient.

There is no suspect vehicle description at this time. LAPD’s South Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
