PHOENIX, Ariz., Mar. 23 (KNN) — Phoenix police officers and firefighters from the cities of Glendale and Phoenix responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision near the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Glendale Avenue shortly after 10:00 p.m. Friday.

First responders arrived to find an unidentified pedestrian in the westbound lanes of Glendale Avenue, approximately one block east of 43rd Avenue.
The involved vehicle, a dark-colored Kia sedan, was stopped just west of the pedestrian.
Preliminary details gathered at the scene suggest the pedestrian was crossing midblock when they were struck. The pedestrian was transported to a local trauma center in critical condition.
Phoenix police had established a hard closure for Glendale Avenue between 43rd Avenue and 41st Avenue.
Officers at the scene stated the closure was expected to remain in place for several hours while Phoenix PD investigated the incident.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
