Pursuit Ends in Violent Crash Leaving 1 Dead, Multiple People Injured

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., (KNN) — One person is dead, multiple others were injured when a vehicle pursued by San Bernardino police officers crashed at an intersection late Thursday morning in the city of San Bernardino.

San Bernardino PD units were in pursuit of a red SUV traveling at a high rate of speed around 11:00 a.m., when the driver lost control hitting a vehicle stopped at the intersection of 2nd Street and the entrance to the southbound 215 Freeway.

The SUV overturned multiple times striking a street light pole, and fatally injuring the driver who was pronounced deceased at the scene by firefighters. Two other people were transported to a local area hospital. Their injuries and conditions were unknown.

It is not known at this time what the suspect was wanted for, and the circumstance that led the San Bernardino PD to engage in a pursuit.
