Single-Vehicle Crash Kills Driver, Shears Power Pole

North Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA: A man was killed in a solo vehicle crash into a power pole early Sunday morning, shearing the pole upon impact.

The collision occurred at approximately 1:19 a.m., Mar. 12, on the 7200 block of Bellaire Avenue in the North Hollywood neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and the first engine at scene requested a physical rescue response. The request was canceled after the victim was pronounced deceased.

Good Samaritans tried to help the driver, but he was beyond medical help by the time firefighters arrived, according to witnesses off camera at the scene.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.

Los Angeles Police Department North Hollywood Division officers were at the location along with Valley Traffic Division.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power responded to temporarily shut off power in the area so officers could safely conduct their investigation.
