Standoff Ensues After Man Allegedly Shoots at Police Helicopter in Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES, Mar. 23 (KNN) — The Los Angeles police responded to a reported assault in a Chatsworth neighborhood on Friday, where a suspect allegedly opened fire on a police helicopter, according to initial reports.

Officers were dispatched around 2:20 p.m. to a residence in the 20000 block of Tipico Street for an assault with a deadly weapon. As officers arrived on the scene, both on the ground and in the air, the suspect reportedly fired at an LAPD air unit.

Initial reports indicate no injuries or damage to the helicopter have been reported.

Police set up a perimeter and were at a standoff with the suspect. Ultimately, the suspect was taken into custody.
