According to a preliminary report of the collision by CHP, a female was driving a 2019 Honda Civic eastbound on the 60 Freeway in the HOV lane, west of Towne Avenue, approaching a Toyota Camry. Ryan Sanchez of Chino, identified as the 24-year-old driver of a 2013 Toyota Camry by CHP, was also traveling eastbound, and had stopped for a previous collision ahead, which was determined by CHP speaking to Key News Network as possibly the Toyota Prius seen in video from the scene.

The Toyota Camry was stopped for approximately five minutes when the Honda Civic, driving at a high rate of speed for changing traffic conditions, collided into the rear of the Toyota Camry, according to CHP.

As a result of the collision, flames engulfed the Honda Civic. The female driver sustained fatal injuries, according to CHP.

Sanchez, the driver of the Toyota Camry, was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital with minor injuries. His passenger, a 23-year-old resident of Chino, sustained fatal injuries from the collision, reported CHP.

The third vehicle seen in Key News Network video near the Toyota Camry at the scene, was not directly involved in this reported incident as far as damage or injuries, according to CHP at this time. Initial reports may not include every detail of an incident until further investigation is completed, hence, the Prius was not initially considered involved in this collision report.

A SIG-ALERT was issued for the HOV, #1, #2, #3 and #4 lanes of the eastbound 60, west of Towne Avenue, at approximately 2:48 a.m. The SIG-ALERT was expected to be canceled at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this collision, according to CHP.
