Vehicle Shears Hydrant Sending Water Gushing Above Street Light Poles

Lake Balboa, Los Angeles, CA: The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported traffic collision Monday night, Jan. 30, on the 16100 block of Victory Boulevard in the Lake Balboa neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley where arriving crews found a single vehicle into a fire hydrant.

The driver was not injured and was provided a blanket from firefighters to keep warm and dry from the spraying hydrant water that gushed into the air above street light poles.

Responding Los Angeles Police officers were directing traffic in the area and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power were at the scene to replace the hydrant.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.
