Woman Shot by Police During Knife Attack on Man in Koreatown

KOREATOWN, LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 (KNN) — The Los Angeles Police Department’s Olympic Division patrol units were on a call around 11:14 p.m. Wednesday in Koreatown when an officer-involved shooting occurred.

LAPD officers responded to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 300 block of Kenmore Avenue where arriving officers saw a woman attacking a man with a knife and an officer-involved shooting occurred, according to the LAPD.

The 20-year-old female Hispanic was struck by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department. The LAPD reported that she is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.

The LAPD said, “The relationship between the victim and the suspect or the reason for the altercation is unknown at this time.” There was a knife located at the scene that was booked as evidence.

The adult male Hispanic victim sustained minor lacerations from the attack. LAFD paramedics treated him at the scene and was then released, according to the LAPD.

No officers were injured during the incident. The area was closed for several hours as the LAPD conducted their investigation.
