Wrong-Way Freeway Driver Survives Traffic Collision; Taxi Driver Killed, Passenger Transported to Hospital

University Park, Los Angeles, CA: A wrong-way freeway driver survived a traffic collision, but the taxi driver they collided with was instantly killed Friday morning at approximately 2:48 a.m.

A wrong-way driver in a dark colored sedan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the I-110 Freeway when they collided with a taxi going northbound just north of Adams in the University Park area of Los Angeles.

The wrong-way driver was a solo occupant and was trapped in their mangled vehicle following the horrific crash.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene along with California Highway Patrol officers.

The driver of the taxi was killed upon impact, but the taxi’s passenger who was coming from LAX, survived. The passenger was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition with unknown injuries.

The female in the wrong-way vehicle was transported in unknown condition to a local hospital as well.

LAFD is reporting a fourth victim, but there is no information on that victim currently.

The freeway was closed for an unknown duration of time.
