HOLLYWOOD HILLS WEST, LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 (KNN) – On Tuesday, around 6:40 p.m., a car fire ignited nearby brush in the Hollywood Hills West neighborhood of Los Angeles, prompting a significant response from the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

According to the LAFD, crews arrived to find one vehicle on fire, with approximately 1/4-acre of medium to heavy vegetation burning uphill in the 2100 block of North Sunset Plaza Drive. Although no structures were involved, several homes above the fire were threatened and prioritized for structure defense.

The LAFD deployed around 80 personnel, including air resources and hand crews. Helicopters made water drops that significantly slowed the fire’s progress toward the homes.

Around 7:30 p.m., all active flames had been extinguished, and forward progress of the fire stopped. Helicopters continued water drops between the homes to cool hotspots, while hand crews began working toward the goal of 100% containment on the very steep terrain, reported LAFD Spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz.

Authorities have issued shelter-in-place orders for Genasys zones LFD-0817, LFD-0819, and LFD-0911. No injuries have been reported, and structure defense is being established by the ground resources.
