Large Pothole on 5 Freeway Prompts Sig Alert in Glendale

GLENDALE, Calif., Mar. 16 (KNN) — The California Highway Patrol spotted a dangerous pothole on the southbound I-5 Freeway at Western Avenue in Glendale on Saturday afternoon.

Per the CHP Log, a CHP unit reported a large pothole in the freeway’s number 4 lane. The pothole was described as an immediate hazard requiring a check on the integrity of the bridge.

At 2:43 p.m., a Caltrans Supervisor noted that the process required six hours and requested a hard closure in the number 4 lane.

The KNN video from the scene shows Caltrans crews working on the hazardous pothole. The hole’s impact on the bridge was not immediately clear.
