‘Smokey Wildfire’ Burns Along Interstate 5 in Lebec

LEBEC, Calif., Feb. 26 (KNN) — A wind-whipped brush fire was burning in dry vegetation in the Lebec area, west of Interstate 5 near Pyramid Lake Road.

The incident, dubbed the “Smokey Fire,” was first reported shortly after 10 p.m. Monday in the 44400 block of Pyramid Lake Road, west of Smokey Bear Road.

The fire had burned seven acres by 11:30 p.m.

According to Watch Duty on Tuesday, Feb. 25, the fire’s forward progress has been stopped per Incident Command.
